Tami and I saw all three pairs of loons tonight. Sadly we have lost one of the the chicks from Larry’s nest that were born June 1st and June 2nd. The remaining Chick is getting big.

Doubly sad we have lost one of the brand new chicks from the natural nest that were born June 21st and June 22nd.

We also saw the 3rd pair that have no chicks. We are now down to 9 loons

Christine noted:

Is it common knowledge by now, that one of the baby loons has perished.

On Monday morning, June 19, both baby loons were seen. One baby loon was seen going to the mother loon for food, but shewing the other baby loon away, depriving it of food. The one baby loon was poking at the other baby loon. The weaker baby loon was showing signs of exhaustion, and later it was apparent that only one baby loon remained.

On July 7, Birdie reported:

Tami, Tom, Alex, Andy ( Alex’s son) and I took a cruise tonight and saw 7 adults and 1 big baby loon from Larry’s platform. Sadly we have lost one of the babies from Larry’s platform and both of the natural nest babies
